U.S. Domestic Relocation All Members Forum Down Payments for Home Purchase- We are seeing an increasing number of relocating employees with no equity remaining after their home sale. Although they wish to purchase a home in the new location, they have no down payment as all equity was lost in the former home. I am interested in ideas around assisting employees with down payments/ loans/ etc. for home purchase. Any great ideas out there?
Global Workforce Mobility All Members Forum Intra Country transfers in South America- I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experiences as it relates to moves within country in South America. My specific case is around a need to "relocate" someone within Brazil from São Paulo to Minas Gerais. I am wondering if there is a "typcial" package companies would look to provide or if it is more of a lump sum cash payment. My only prior experience has been in Mexico where almost every piece was negotiated and we ended up providing a hybrid between a "serviced relocation" and cash allowance.
Netherlands - Property Management? Home Rental?- I am being advised that it is not customary or usual to rent out ones property in the Netherlands. Can anyone comment or provide insight on this? What I am being told is that for rental periods of 12 months or more it would be of high risk due to the protective nature of "tenants rights." So even if there is a clause in a lease that states that the landlord has the right to evict the tenant should their assignment end earlier than the lease expiration term the tenant has the right to stay in the property? I am just trying to verify the statement that in the Netherlands it is not usual or customary to rent out your residence when you go on assignment. Any comment would be most appreciated. |
MOBILITY Magazine Highlights:
Taking the Pulse of Our Industry “If I was a nurse and our industry was my patient, I would take its pulse and pronounce it ‘relatively stable:’ a few steps away from the recession but not yet consistently back on solid ground. It’s a good time to determine a prognosis for our future, and consider a few thought-provoking features of today’s workforce mobility environment,” writes Peggy Smith, CEO of Worldwide ERC® for the June “Perceptions” column in MOBILITY magazine. The European Union—Everything You Ever Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask Anne Dean, GMS, presents a brief history of the European Union (EU), and explains its organization, progress, and future in the June issue of MOBILITY. The Global Economy: Closer Than You Think The global economy touches all aspects of life. From our clothes to our cars to the food we eat, a day rarely goes by when something from abroad does not pass through our hands. This is especially true in workforce mobility, as employees are moved globally and are influenced by the economy and its far reach. In the June issue of MOBILITY, Tom Wortham, CRP, GMS, examines how the worldwide economy affects the employee mobility industry. The Basics of Split Payrolls for Expatriates: Splits and Shadows Split payrolls are complex strategies for compensating employees that require extensive coordination between international HR professionals, payroll teams, services providers, and assignees. In the June issue of MOBILITY, Amy Parrent, GMS, CBP, CCP, discusses the advantages and disadvantages of split payrolls, as well as the four primary approaches.
The Expatriate Experience in South Africa South Africa is a culturally diverse region that provides several notable advantages for businesses to add operations in the country. With its strategic geographic location and export capabilities, the market for expatriates continues to increase. As with any foreign assignment, there are certain risks that can be avoided. In the June issue of MOBILITY, Michelle Colona and Danielle Turner write that receiving proper inoculations, being cautious of the surrounding environments, and understanding the difference in health care practices are important to preparation for a successful assignment to South Africa. |
