We respect your privacy

Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy has been developed so you know how we collect, use, share, and store your personal information.  Any personal information you provide to us including but not limited to, your name, address, telephone number and email address will not be released, sold or rented to any entities or individuals outside of our organization except as noted below.

This Privacy Policy applies to our website, communities, directory, events, information we have received from third parties, and other information we receive from communication from you.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT, WHY WE COLLECT IT, AND HOW WE USE IT

We collect data from you and from automated sources. Data collected from you generally includes Personal Information that identifies you as a person, such as name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, employer and job function. When you apply for membership, sign up for free services or purchase any of our products and services, we request this Personal Information from you. We use this information to process your order and provide you with the associated products/services/requests.  We also use this information to provide you with newsletters, publications, research reports, products, event registrations, website account registration, and other services we may offer over time.  This information is essential for us to communicate with you.

Data is also collected from automated sources which may include cookies, Internet Protocol (IP) address, the URL of the websites you came from and go to from our sites, what activities you perform and items viewed on our sites, and search terms used on our sites. A cookie is a small data text file that is placed in your browser and allows us to recognize you each time you visit our sites (personalization, etc). Cookies themselves do not contain any personal information, and we do not use cookies to collect personal information.  We may also use cookies to collect information from third parties (such as Google) to help advertise our products and services, to analyze the effectiveness of our marketing or the performance of our sites, and to determine whether you may be interested in other products or services.

We use these data in order to best serve your needs which includes but is not limited to product/service fulfillment, sending you materials you have requested or those in which we think you may have interest.  We collect information on the usage of our sites in order to  maintain and improve the sites and our offerings.  We may partner with Google Analytics in these activities.  For information on how Google uses this information please view their Privacy Statement and Terms of Service on their website.

Membership Directories

We make member contact information available through the Worldwide ERC® Membership Directories to other members using our Web site and to those who register for our conferences. In addition, we incorporate information users provide into hard copies of the Membership Directories that we provide to members and sell to requesters.  On occasion, we may also provide limited data to third parties that offer products and services.

Our Service Providers.

We may share your personal information with companies (including our affiliates) that perform services on our behalf, for example, companies that help process credit card payments. Our service providers are required by contract to protect the confidentiality of the personal information we share with them and to use it only to provide specific services on our behalf.

Business Transfers.

Your personal information may be transferred to another entity (either an affiliated entity or an unrelated third party) in connection with a merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar corporate event. If such a transfer were ever to occur, the acquiring entity’s use of your personal information will still be subject to this Privacy Policy.

Government and Legal Disclosures

We may disclose the personal information we collect through our sites, when we, in good faith, believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law (or a court order or subpoena); to prevent or investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; to enforce our Terms and Conditions or other agreements that govern your use of this Site; or to protect the rights, property or safety of our company, our users or others.

EXTERNAL SITES

While we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to us and you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of any passwords or other account information. We are not responsible for the content of external internet sites. Our sites may have links to external sites.  If you access another organization’s website using a link provided, they may collect data on you and Worldwide ERC is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of linked websites or their usages. You are advised to read the privacy policy of external sites before disclosing any personal information.  We disclaim any responsibility or liability for their policies or actions. Please contact those vendors and others directly if you have any questions about their privacy policies.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Worldwide ERC is based in the United States, where our servers and offices are located. Please note that any information you send to us by telephone, email, mail, or our website will be received in the United States. The United States may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the information.

HOW YOU CAN REVIEW, CORRECT, UPDATE, AND DELETE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We take reasonable steps to help ensure that the Personal Information we collect from and retain on you is accurate, complete and current.  You may request a copy of the Personal Information that Worldwide ERC holds on you and request that inaccurate or incorrect data be corrected.  You may also request that your Worldwide ERC account and associated Personal Information be deleted. You can object to the processing of your data.
