Worldwide ERC®'s Global Benchmarking Survey examining the phenomenon of stealth expatriates was conducted online during November and December 2009. Eighty-one organizations responded to the questionnaire. Results show that over half of the responding organisations are aware of or suspect that they have stealth expatriates in their midst. Respondents indicate that such employees most often are discovered only by chance and that business travelers and business commuters are most likely to end up in these situations. Europe and Asia-Pacific are the regions with the greatest reported incidence of stealth expats.
