Better Thinking, Better Future?
In the strategy+business article, Two Simple Concepts for Thinking about the Future, author George E.L. Barbee says, “Every business decision is an effort to create a better future: a future in which your operations are faster, more precise, and more profitable.” He shares two simple steps for more productive thinking about the future. First, build your foresight network, by finding the creative thinkers in your organization – those who are standouts in meetings, the ones you love to talk to one-on-one… and then encourage them to invite their own creative thinkers. Second, improve your imagining practice: listen for situations where it is appropriate to say “Imagine if....” so that you can reframe the conversation more powerfully and creatively.

Canada and France: Tapping into Talent!
Canada and France are making their intentions known when it comes to snagging top talent. On June 12, Canada launched its Global Skills Strategy program, intended to attract international talent to Canada through faster processing of visas and the introduction of a new short-term work permit.  The program is focused on bringing foreign workers to Canada to train Canadian workers for specialized jobs or attracting workers with high-demand skills to help innovative firms grow.

And on June 15, France’s President Macron introduced a new initiative that included the establishment of a technology visa designed to attract international talent, and cited other goals for economic growth and the development of “leading-world companies” that included reducing regulations, easing work for foreign talent, and supporting start-ups.
