When I stepped into my role as CEO of Worldwide ERC, I assumed responsibility for an association in transition, and began working with a Board of Directors that was united in its focus on the future. The workforce mobility industry is a dynamic one, constantly adapting to change and navigating transformation, and the Board was and remains a true representation of that spirit. We set to work to take what FY 2020 had given us – and then what the year 2020 gave us with COVID-19 – to ensure Worldwide ERC® remains a true representation of our members’ spirit as well.
FY 2020 sets the context for where we are going in FY 2021 and beyond. While I may not be able to speak to all Worldwide ERC® accomplished in the time that predates me, I can say with certainty that since March 2020, we have done what mobility professionals do every day: help our stakeholders navigate the most stressful and exciting times in their careers. We have delivered:
- COVID Info Hub. We stood up a COVID resource center and held a series of town halls culminating in our free, virtual “Road to Recovery” event in May.
- Policy Advocacy. We’ve been your voice with policymakers advocating for COVID-relief and immigration and tax reforms to get the economy moving again. In alliance with some of Washington’s largest business associations, we’ve submitted almost two dozen amicus briefs, letters to Congress and regulatory comments.
- Better Member Service. We’ve engaged in a listening tour to get your feedback on how we can better serve you, and we revamped our website to provide more relevant and timely content.
- More Education. We added a second CRP exam window, relaunched the learning platform with six specialty badges and are updating GMS and the BMA.
- Career Support. We provided discounted access to credentials and learning for those in our industry who’ve lost their jobs. And, we are seeking to get everyone who has a mobility job opening to post it in our career center.
- A Mobility Milestone. We celebrated the 40th anniversary of Mobility with a fresh look and content. We also celebrated 30 years of CRP, YP-40’s 10th birthday and launched our members-only communities.
- Global Policy Tool. We released the most robust global policy benchmarking tool on the market.
- Meeting the Moment. We have task forces dedicated to standards and advancing inclusion in our industry.
- A GWS Like No Other. And, we combined our fall events originally scheduled for Washington, DC, Tokyo, Shanghai, Bangalore and Sao Paulo, into a month-long virtual event that attracted over 1,650 participants from 50 countries and featured over 65 hours of learning. If you missed it, don’t worry, it will be available in our learning portal all year.
Having come through the most challenging of times for Worldwide ERC and, indeed, our entire industry, we are excited about the future and where we are all going together. With that, we will be able to report out more fully on the past year in our 2021 Annual Report. In the meantime, I deliver to you the world we knew in FY 2020 and a promise that like you, Worldwide ERC® is where work is going, and we will go there together.
