The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) of the
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has launched a new website for E-Verify. Using E-Verify, employers can
determine whether new employees are eligible for being employed in the United
E-Verify is an online verification system administered by USCIS
and the Social Security Administration using information on the USCIS Form I-9,
on which the employee attests to their citizenship or residency status in the
US, which is then cross-referenced to Social Security records. E-Verify also
allows employees to potentially correct any technical issues that occur during
the verification process as well as report violations unfair treatment or
practices under the system.
In addition to changes in the look for the E-Verify website, the
site was modernized to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the system
to verify employee eligibility to work in the US. Specific changes to the
system as outlined by USCIS are as follows:
