The social distancing and travel restrictions imposed to help contain the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) are having a profound impact on real estate transactions. Real estate brokers, appraisers, title insurance companies, closing agents and lenders are having to accelerate the use of emerging technology and improvise in order to conduct transactions.

John Habanek, CRP, GMS
John joined Chase nearly 20 years ago as a mortgage banker, and quickly moved into leadership roles throughout the organization.
In late 2010, he was tapped to lead a small team of dedicated relocation bankers. He dove into Mobility headfirst and has remained active, building deep relationships and becoming an industry-recognized thought leader and speaker. John’s growth mindset and fierce dedication to a selfless culture of “you’re part of something larger than yourself” has contributed to Chase’s impressive growth and operational excellence in this space.
In 2015, he was promoted to Regional Sales Manager and after three successful years in business development, was asked to return to leadership in an Executive role as Head of Business Development for Chase Corporate Home Lending—with national oversight for all Corporate, RMC and Government entity relationships, as well as responsibility for leading a number of strategic initiatives.
John is married to the fabulous Teresa Fyffe and has a magnificent 15 year old daughter. He’s an avid reader, enjoys cycling, playing music with his wife, cooking and is a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Jay Hershman, SCRP
Jay N. Hershman, SCRP concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate and relocation law, including compliance and corporate and business organization. He also holds the designation of Senior Certified Relocation Professional from the Worldwide Employee Relocation Council (WERC).
He is a member of the Connecticut, Massachusetts and District of Columbia Bars, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court in the District of Connecticut. He also holds a Massachusetts real estate broker license.
Jay is the past Chair of the WERC North American Real Estate and Mortgage Forum and has been a member of the Forum since its inception. He has served as a speaker at numerous events and training sessions throughout the United States discussing real estate and relocation. Additionally, Mr. Hershman has been a member of the Cheshire Fire Department since 1992 and held the rank of Assistant Chief. Mr. Hershman served as the President of the Waterbury Area Fire Chief’s Association
In 1998 he received a B.A. from Bryant University. He received a J.D. from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2001. At the Quinnipiac University School of Law, Mr. Hershman was the Research Editor of the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal, and he authored “Erickson v. Erickson: Extrinsic Evidence in Probate Matters”, Quinn. Prob. Law Jour. 143 (2001).
