International and U.S. Domestic Conversations Intersect in Action-Packed Week

Next week, the common issues that the global mobility industry faces both in the United States and globally come together at the Worldwide ERC® Spring Virtual Conference and the first-ever United Nations International Migration Review Forum (IMRF). Talent shortages, legal frameworks, and skills mobility are just some of the topics taking center stage at both events, which will showcase productive and insightful conversations on how to tackle these challenges.

On Monday, May 16, on the sidelines of the IMRF in New York City, the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) will co-host a business flagship event to assess how governments around the world are progressing in the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), which calls for governments to create legal pathways for migration and adopt technology to facilitate border crossing and skills matching.

I serve as Vice Chair of the IOE Business Advisory Group on Migration, which helped construct the GCM, and joining me at the May 16 meeting will be Worldwide ERC public policy forum leaders Jurga McCluskey, Head of Immigration at Deloitte UK, and Azmina Aboobaker, Director of U.S. Immigration at Meta, among other distinguished participants. I am looking forward to the conversation.

Then, on May 17 – 19, the Worldwide ERC 2022 Spring Virtual Conference will touch on the biggest U.S. domestic issues impacting our industry today: sustainability, supply chain management, remote work, and diversity and inclusion. We have so many great sessions planned, from our industry vertical updates to our keynote chat with the CEO of Sonesta Hotels—a  chain that grew from 80 to 1,200 properties over the past two years. If you haven’t done so already, you can register here.

These back-to-back events provide incredible opportunities to delve into the intersection of the most pressing issues currently confronting global mobility professionals both in the United States and abroad. I look forward to engaging with our members and partner organizations at both events.
