Worldwide ERC is proud to be the only organization that brings us together as one—tracking relevant trends, providing the right tools, and building the team of members, volunteers, and professional staff who help lead the way.

I was in Dallas, Texas, last week to meet with North Texas Relocation Professional (NTRP). Coming on the heels of the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the NTRP event offered an opportune moment to reinforce the power of our one industry to take on the greatest challenges of our time—and how Worldwide ERC® is serving as that one, powerful voice to advocate for talent mobility professionals.

A new term took center stage at Davos: “polycrisis.” A polycrisis is when a bunch of individual risks happen at the same time and add up to a crisis that’s bigger than the sum of its parts. Experts don’t think we are in a polycrisis yet, but they emphasized that governments, the private sector, and civil society must work together to avert such a catastrophic situation.

The room of professionals who had gathered for this event reinforced for me that when our industry comes together as one, there is no challenge we can’t solve. Worldwide ERC is proud to be the only organization that brings us together as one—tracking relevant trends, providing the right tools, and building the team of members, volunteers, and professional staff who help lead the way.

We talked in greater detail about trends, tools, and teams. We discussed the results of our 2022 Transfer Volume and Cost (TVC) Survey. Most of the audience agreed with the projection that U.S. transfers would increase by 5% or more, a sentiment that aligns well with recent economic news. Similarly, it was great to hear that our public policy issues resonated so well with our corporate members, and that the audience appreciated our updated Broker’s Market Analysis and Strategy Report.

After NTRP, I sat down with Ben Cross, host of the LOVE + RELO talk show, to talk more about these themes and how we are delivering more and better for our industry. On this latter point, I hope you saw the exciting news that Worldwide ERC has partnered with association management firm Smithbucklin so that we can access broader and deeper resources, specialized expertise, and insights from a team of professional staff who have developed and implemented successful strategies for other organizations such as ours.

Please stay tuned for additional information, including details about the move to our new headquarters in Washington, D.C., and relevant staff contact information. If you are interested in hearing more about the trends and topics defining mobility, as well as how Worldwide ERC is responding to these issues, I invite you to register for an upcoming town hall on 2 March , where I will be speaking with current Worldwide ERC Board Chair Anupam Singhal. I hope to see you there!
