Policies Should Support Work ANYWHERE, Be AGILE and Should Be ATTENTIVE to the Needs of Employers and Workers Alike

ARLINGTON, Va., 4 March 2021 – Worldwide ERC® and the over 5,400 workforce mobility and relocation professionals it represents today released its principles for public policy reform to help policymakers stay ahead of where work is going. As the certified relocation professionals and global mobility specialists who have mastered the process of transferring working professionals around the world, Worldwide ERC ® members are uniquely qualified to identify the best policies for safely and efficiently relocating and supporting individuals in the workplace – including remote ones.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has upended many aspects of the workplace – it’s more mobile, must be more agile, and there is more change ahead,” said Andrew Walker, Chairman of Worldwide ERC®. “Managing change is where workforce mobility professionals especially excel, and we want public policymakers to call on us as they craft the laws and policies for where work is going.”

The Worldwide ERC® Principles for Public Policy Reform put forth a public policy infrastructure for workforce mobility that supports work anywhere, that is agile and that is attentive to the needs of workers and the business community alike.

“Anywhere, agile and attentive – these are the pillars of a public policy infrastructure that will support the workforce mobility industry in its drive to spark economic recovery, new growth, increased productivity, innovation and individual prosperity for the long term,” said Worldwide ERC ® CEO Lynn Shotwell. “We look forward to working on a bipartisan basis with the Biden Administration and Congress to enact public policies that will bring positive reform.”

From economic stimulus and tax relief to immigration reform and real estate public policies to duty of care and compliance, if a business or public policy involves the recruiting, hiring, deploying and/or relocating of a working professional, then Worldwide ERC® members will have an informed perspective on the solutions to best support a mobile workforce. This is especially true for public policies that relate to smaller businesses, as approximately 80 percent of its members are small- to medium-size businesses.
