Susan O’Malley, the first female president of a professional sports franchise – will share seven lessons of leadership during a luncheon program at the Worldwide ERC® Americas Mobility Conference in Dallas, Texas.
On Thursday, May 17, from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m., O’Malley will guide talent mobility professionals through new ways of thinking about transforming organizational culture, building and motivating teams, and how to listen to consumer and employee insights to drive meaningful change.
O’Malley is an ideal choice to reaffirm the importance of holding steady to core principles that can carry organizations through the toughest of times. The determination and focus that propelled her to blazing new trails as an adult were present at an early age, when she already knew she wanted to lead a professional sports organization. Undeterred by a teacher who dubbed that childhood goal “unrealistic” on a school paper, she rose from an intern to her desired post, and from there to positions as a highly regarded motivational speaker and university lecturer who gives back to the communities she serves and inspires the next generation of leaders.
O'Malley took an organization ranked last compared to its competitors in close to every category, and introduced policies and procedures that inspired positive relationships with ticket holders, corporate sponsors, and the media. She is credited with achieving the largest ticket revenue increase and season ticket renewal rates in the history of NBA franchises. And fun fact for those Jeopardy show fans out there – she is widely recognized and highly regarded enough to have made it into the answer category of one of the trivia game show’s impressive list of questions.
“As research continues to support a direct correlation between increasing numbers of females in leadership positions and business growth, Susan O’Malley’s story is certainly a great example of that in action. We all look forward to being motivated and inspired by her experiences and advice,”
— notes Mark Lozano, SCRP, GMS, Worldwide ERC® 2018 Chairman of the Board.
