How This Impacts Mobility
The proclamation on immigrant visas is not significantly impacting the relocation of employees to the U.S. in the short-term. During this COVID-19 public health emergency, most companies have voluntarily suspended relocating all but essential employees. Also, U.S. consulates abroad are not currently processing applications and travel restrictions are in place around the globe. However, implementing a suspension of the issuance of nonimmigrant visas as countries are starting to ease restrictions would restrict workforce mobility at a time when it is critical to the U.S. and global economic recovery.
