The Latin American region – or LATAM – is a vibrant and diverse region that’s long been a hub for global businesses and expats. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the LATAM region has been one of the hardest hit regions overall, led by the highly populated Brazil. Countries within South America continue to struggle with rising cases, though a few countries, such as Costa Rica, have had some successes.
As LATAM businesses and their workers continue to grapple with the COVID crisis, workforce mobility professionals will be there as the situation develops. Workforce mobility’s strategic importance is front and center as mobility professionals tackle issues around tax and immigration laws as they relate to COVID-19 in specific regions. Duty of care approaches that cover every detail from crisis planning to home purchasing in the context of both LATAM and the pandemic will be top of mind for the mobility industry.
Despite the crisis, what remains is LATAM’s varied cultures and resilient people who will continue to lead the way towards a better and brighter future. As 2020 comes to a close and we enter 2021, the lessons learned from this time period will prove to make the LATAM region and workforce mobility stronger and better prepared than ever before.
This year, Worldwide ERC® is connecting the mobility industry virtually through our first-ever virtual, month-long Global Work Symposium. 2020 has been quite a year, and there’s much to learn about across all sectors of the industry. We’ve built out new content tracks that are directly relevant to all of these sectors, including a content track for the LATAM region that ties to our LATAM Summit on 11 November.
At the Global Workforce Symposium, we’ll discuss pressing LATAM topics, including an economic overview of Latin America to review the impact of COVID-19, which countries have been hurt the most and how certain economies may perform in the near future. We’ll also explore the state of work in Latin America in addition to discussing immigration and the latest opportunities and challenges that local businesses face in the wake of COVID-19.
By retaining all the key elements of our in-person event, GWS will continue to foster connection and learning across the globe for all sectors of the industry. There’s something for everyone at mobility’s biggest annual gathering, and we encourage you to check out our schedule of events and speakers to get a glimpse of what this year’s GWS has to offer.
So if you haven’t already: register now! It’s not too late to sign up to experience this new format with all the elements you’ve come to expect from the Global Workforce Symposium. Join us at the first-ever virtual, month-long Global Workforce Symposium from 28 October to 20 November 2020.
