The strategic importance and definitions of talent mobility are expanding. Collaboration is the key to advancing our industry – and the global workforce as a whole – to the next level.

Worldwide ERC®’s Advance 2020 recognizes the need for change and provides the forum to accelerate it. It is an opportunity for uniquely collaborative ideation and action. It brings senior-level strategic talent and mobility corporate leaders together to interact with one another, and to engage with executive-level mobility service company leaders in a think-tank atmosphere to learn, develop and create. It connects mobility service providers with one another to hone and expand business offerings by identifying the right partners to complement their strengths. Most importantly, it showcases and celebrates what’s possible by amplifying the voices of industry innovators and disruptors.

FAQs

What exactly is Advance 2020?

It’s an entirely new event focused on collaboration, ideas and action to move the talent mobility industry forward. As we continue to experience significant levels of transformation and disruption, the educational, content and connectivity needs of our stakeholders are changing. We’ve been talking about elevating mobility’s strategic significance and influence for some time – and Advance 2020 is designed to deliver on that. We know that C-Suite business leaders are facing the demands of such significant global trends as:

  • The rapid pace of development and integration of technology into the workforce,
  • Increasingly complex geopolitical uncertainties and risks,
  • Changing workforce demographics, alongside talent and skills shortages.

The reality today is that no one can go it alone – collaboration is essential, and the right individuals, skills and minds need to work together to move us all forward.

Advance 2020 facilitates that collaboration. It’s a forum connecting mobility service providers with one another on Wednesday, May 13, and senior-level corporate delegates from such disciplines as Talent Mobility, Compensation & Benefits, Global Travel, Talent Acquisition and overall HR, and talent mobility service company executives and business line leaders on Thursday, May 14. Corporate participants can also engage with one another in a corporate-only benchmarking brunch on Friday, May 15.

B2B participants will be able to explore ways to partner and expand the list of products and services they offer the globally mobile population. Thursday and Friday participants will have opportunities to share challenges, successes, and seize new opportunities to design innovative solutions together to meet changing workforce needs, in both large-group and more personal, 1:1 settings. Innovators and entrepreneurs will be able to showcase their unique technology, solutions or ideas in front of key decision makers and venture capitalists.

Why did Worldwide ERC® decide not to hold its traditional annual spring conference this year?

Worldwide ERC®‘s executive committee, board of directors and staff members have all heard from members and sponsoring partners that two, similarly designed conferences each year are challenging to manage from the travel, attendance and time-out-of-the-office perspectives. You told us – and the data confirms – that you prefer a single, more robust annual conference. You have also shared with us your desires to do more to continue to advance and elevate our industry. We heard you, and to that end, we have created an entirely new event – focused on innovation and collaboration – that uses the time we had reserved in May to present Advance 2020. At the same time, we have incorporated the best of our spring conference into our annual Global Workforce Symposium in the fall. It will continue to offer the high-level content and events you’ve come to expect from this meeting. Outstanding keynote speakers, concurrent sessions, a robust marketplace and innovation labs are all part of the agenda. At the same time, we’re building an expanded program to offer new domestic and global mobility content to meet each of our major industry stakeholders’ needs, too, including new workshops, real estate and government tracks. Watch for more information as we continue to shape our signature fall event.

Can you explain what this new event IS – and ISN’T?

Just as the name indicates, Advance 2020 is designed to move the talent mobility industry forward, securing its strategic position as an integral part of workforce and business development.  It’s a forum for senior-level leaders to engage with one another in a new and uniquely collaborative way.  It is NOT a new take on the National Relocation or Americas Mobility Conference—it’s a completely different event.  It is not a traditional trade show with individual registrations.  We recognize and acknowledge that this event is not going to be for everyone, and we are deliberately moving to one annual event that is – expanding our fall Global Workforce Symposium programming to allow us to accomplish that.

When and where is Advance 2020 taking place?

May 13-15, 2020, at the Hilton Americas Houston, 1600 Lamar Street, Houston, Texas 77010.

Will there be an exhibit hall or marketplace?

No. The traditional exhibit area with booths has been replaced with a mingle lounge, networking luncheons, evening receptions and an ability to book private, 1:1 or smaller meetings and appointments. It’s a unique opportunity to connect directly with curated buyers and decision makers who are most interested in the specific products and services your company provides and needs, or to partner with other service providers to round out your portfolio of talent mobility solutions.

Who is Advance 2020 designed for?
  • Talent mobility service professionals across all levels of experience and job titles, looking to interact with other service providers. (Wednesday, May 13)
  • Senior-level corporate HR and talent management professionals directly responsible for shaping and purchasing the services and support for their company’s globally mobile workforce. (Thursday and Friday, May 14 & 15)
  • C-suite or second-in-command/business line leaders from organizations that serve the talent mobility community. (Thursday, May 14)
  • Entrepreneurs – including start-ups – with ideas, technology or products and services facilitating the global movement of talent/future workforce (Wednesday, May 13 and the Innovation Spotlight/Awards Reception on Thursday, May 14).

Some of the major differentiators of Advance 2020 are that there are days/tracks designed for each segment of the talent mobility industry and some new criteria around the experience levels of participants for the Thursday and Friday programming.

Here’s what Advance 2020 looks like, in detail:

Wednesday, May 13, 2020 #bettertogether
If you are a representative of a company engaged in talent mobility services, Wednesday is for you. A business-to-business (B2B)-level package for up to two delegates to attend is available to all talent mobility service professionals – regardless of job title or experience level and entitles you to all Wednesday events.

Wednesday’s lineup is built to enable service provider professionals to learn from and collaborate with one another, expanding your networks and bringing you up to speed on the latest industry developments, risks, opportunities and trends. B2B-level supporters will have access to all of this through our ongoing five Compliance Forum meetings, a State of the Industry address, opportunities to connect with one another in large networking venues and mingle lounges as well as scheduling more private, 1:1 business meetings, via dedicated onsite space.

In the evening, registered delegates – including senior corporate HR representatives arriving for Thursday’s programming – will come together for a networking reception.

Thursday, May 14, 2020
If you are a senior level Corporate HR executive, or a C-Suite or business line leader from a talent mobility service company, Thursday’s programming is for you. It’s designed to connect executive-level industry representatives for a day of:

Learning and idea exchange – three content tracks will be offered, crafted around industry challenges and disruption, how HR professionals can best address them and the future of work.

Collaboration – peer-to-peer group connectivity and 1:1 meetings will also be happening concurrently throughout the day – with customized appointments pre-arranged and scheduled through the mobile app.

Innovation – Thursday’s lineups will also include something really new and different: we’re inviting entrepreneurs and innovators to apply to make a stage presentation, showcasing new technology, product demos or game-changing ideas and services. Selected participants will take part in a competition — think Shark Tank, but specifically for the talent mobility industry. The winning entry will be selected by a panel of highly experienced industry professional judges and announced and celebrated at a networking reception on Thursday night. In addition to the top prize, the winner will receive extensive recognition and industry-wide promotion from Worldwide ERC®. While there will only be one official winner, it’s really a win-win for all, as new ideas, solutions and innovations are showcased in front of the industry and venture capitalists.

Friday, May 15, 2020
There will be a corporate HR-only benchmarking brunch.

Who will decide the criteria for job-title/experience level?

Worldwide ERC® will determine eligibility criteria for delegates participating in the Thursday and Friday events. Individuals must be either senior-level Corporate HR professionals or C-Suite, second-in-command, or business line leaders from workforce mobility service providing companies. The Friday benchmarking brunch is for corporate HR delegates only.

Are there changes planned for the Global Workforce Symposium?

As we transition to one major conference a year, we’re retaining all of the key elements of the Global Workforce Symposium: dynamic keynote speakers, robust concurrent educational sessions and workshops, an extensive marketplace and exhibition hall, innovation labs and networking opportunities and events. At the same time, we’re designing new, additional domestic and global content tracks that are directly relevant to all our industry sectors and building on the momentum set at Advance 2020. There will be something for everyone at the industry’s biggest annual gathering, so don’t miss the Worldwide ERC® Global Workforce Symposium in Washington, D.C. – this October 28 – 30.
